The Miami Dolphins (3-1) host the New York Giants (1-3) on Sunday in the 1 PM EST slate of games. The Dolphins lost their first game of the 2023 season in Buffalo in Week 4. The Giants got blown out at home against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4. Both teams will look to rebound in this Week 5 matchup.

Main Storylines to Watch

How do the Dolphins respond after their first loss? Miami has been one of the top offensive teams in the 2023 – 2024 NFL season. The Bills in Week 4 kept the Dolphins offense in check allowing only 20 points. On paper, the Dolphins should look to blow out this Giants team in Miami. It will be interesting to see if the Bills found something on defense that other defenses can use to slow down this Miami offense.

Will the Giants get blown out again? Through four weeks, the New York Giants have a negative 66-point differential. Their one win was a three-point victory over the Arizona Cardinals and their three losses are all by at least 18 points. The Giants came into the 2023 season as an expected wildcard-caliber team in the NFC. This is quite a disappointing start for New York, but this is a prime opportunity to make a statement by beating a top-tier Dolphins team.

The New York Giants (1-2) host the Seattle Seahawks (2-1) on the Monday night matchup for Week 4. The Seahawks are coming off a win over the Panthers in Week 3. The Giants are coming off a mini-bye after being blown out by the 49ers on Thursday night in Week 3.

Main Storylines to Watch

How do the Giants respond against a middle-tier NFC team? The Giants were blown out by two top-tier NFC teams the Cowboys and the 49ers. Their one win was over an expected bottom-five team in the Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are an above-average team and this is a good first test against a team in the same tier the Giants expected to be in.

Can the Seahawks offense continue to put up these high scores? After a surprising loss to the Rams in Week 1, the Seahawks have put up 37 points two weeks in a row. Putting up 37 points allows for many different fantasy options to be productive. Is this an offense to sell high or should we buy into this production?

The San Francisco 49ers (2-0) host the New York Giants (1-1) in Week 3’s Thursday night game slot. The 49ers are coming off a closer-than-expected win over the Los Angeles Rams. The Giants finally scored after six scoreless quarters to start their season in the Week 2 comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Main Storylines to Watch

How much will the 49ers need to pass in what is expected to be a ten-point victory? The 49ers are heavy favorites in this Thursday night matchup. When it comes to fantasy, it is worth considering how much San Francisco will need to pass the ball. The game script of this contest could lead to a run-heavy approach in the second half of this game, leading to less volume for all the 49ers passing game weapons.

Will we get the second-half Giants from Week 2 or the Giants team from the first six quarters of the 2023 season? After being held scoreless for the first six quarters, the Giants scored 31 second-half points against the Arizona Cardinals to come back and win. Have they finally figured it out on the offensive side of the ball? This is a tough matchup for this Giants offense, and we should learn a lot about what this Giants offense can do without Saquon Barkley.

Giants(-205) @ Cardinals (+170): O/U 40.0

Arizona Cardinals (0-1) will host the New York Giants (0-1) in Week 2. The Cardinals hope they can win their home opener against a Giants team that was just blown out 40-0. The Giants are hoping to respond after the Week 1 embarrassing shutout.

Writer’s Record
Leans: 0-4 down 4u
Bets: 2-2 up 0.25u

Main Storylines to Watch

Were the Cardinals better than expected in Week 1 or was their opponent worse than expected? The Cardinals kept it close in their Week 1 matchup against the Cardinals. Many were expecting the Cardinals to get blown out in about every game. Was this Week 1 performance a sign of things to come or did the Commanders just not play well? The Cardinals are facing an embarrassed Giants team that will be highly motivated to rebound.

How does the Giants’ offense respond to being shut out? Losing 40-0 in your Week 1 opener is quite deflating. The Giants need to throw out the Week 1 tape and start over. Last season the Giants were a solid offense, and they need to get back to taking care of the ball and leaning on run and play action game. The Giants should bounce back against this Cardinals team, but how big of a bounceback is still up in the air.

Cowboys(-175) @ Giants(+145): O/U 45.5
Cowboys -3.5 (-105), Giants +3.5(-115)

These NFC East rivals open up their season in New York playing in the Sunday Night slot. This should be a close matchup of teams that know each other well. With a Vegas project score of Cowboys 24.5 to Giants 21.0, this game should provide ample offensive production for fantasy purposes. Giants have struggled mightily against the Cowboys in recent years, but with a whole offseason to prepare for this matchup, is this the game they flip the script and beat the Cowboys at home?

Main Storylines to Watch

Who is the second option in the Cowboys’ passing game? The Cowboys are projected to have a top-ten offense this year again with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Tony Pollard leading the way. Normally in top ten offense, you see more than one pass catcher providing fantasy value, but the Cowboys have a question mark there at the moment. Many project their new wideout to the team, Brandin Cooks, will fill that role, but Michael Gallup is another year away from his ACL injury and could see an uptick in volume as well. In the past, the Cowboys have incorporated their tight ends in the offense as well. Jake Ferguson has been impressive at camp and could establish himself as a weekly starter at the tight end position in fantasy.

Will any Giants’ wide receiver separate themself from the crowd? The Giants pass catchers will be led by Darren Waller at tight end with Saquon Barkley being a major threat in the pass game out of the backfield. Will any Giants’ wideout be trustworthy in fantasy this year? They have six names who all have a real argument to be the top guy, but most likely there will be no lead guy. Hopefully, a Giants WR breaks out, but as of now we just have to wait and see

Dallas Cowboys

QB

Dak Prescott: Last season, Prescott was uncharacteristically turnover-prone throwing for 15 interceptions in 12 games started. Dak finished as the QB16 in points-per-game in 2022. Maybe the injuries were the cause of the subpar play from Prescott, but most in the industry expect him to be in the QB8 – QB12 range this season. Dak is a solid starting option in this Week 1 Sunday Night matchup.

RB

Tony Pollard: Pollard broke out last season as the RB8 in the split backfield with Zeke Elliott. This season Pollard is the projected bellcow back with no proven help behind him in the depth chart. Pollard has always been a player who has been very efficient with his touches. Will the increase in touches decrease his efficiency this year? If not, Pollard could be in line for top 3 fantasy RB finish this year. If you have Pollard you are starting Pollard whenever healthy.
