MLB Pickups of the Day for September 22

  • Well, the end is almost here. For some of you, this is the final Saturday of your fantasy baseball season. For others, you might have one more after this. To those who will win their league titles tomorrow I say, congratulations. To everyone who will be playing until the final day of the season I say, the work’s not done, so let’s finish this thing.

Evan Carter – OF, TEX – 11% rostered, Yahoo

Carter, a top 10 prospect, was called up by the Rangers on September 7th and has started 14 of 16 games since then. He has a great eye at the plate (13:9 K:BB in the majors), some decent pop and decent speed (probably more of a 15-18 HR/30-35 SB guy) and his above-average centerfield defense will keep him on the field. Though he has hit exclusively from the 9 spot since being called up, his ability to get on base (.447 OBP so far) will result in a lot of runs scored in such an explosive offense. Going into this final week, if you need an OF who is contributing in all 5 major statistical categories and won’t hurt you anywhere, Carter is a solid play.
